Problem

Disconnected, inflexible business processes

Tourism Northern Ireland is responsible for the development of tourism and the marketing of Northern Ireland as a tourist destination to domestic tourists within Northern Ireland, and to visitors from the Republic of Ireland.

The organisation was experiencing challenges with their digital transformation strategy and moving to the cloud. Stored contact and communication information was siloed across multiple systems, and the company’s ageing finance system was plagued with inefficiencies and cumbersome business processes.

With multiple legacy systems supporting its infrastructure, and significant challenges regarding performance, system security, managed services delivery and other issues, Tourism NI turned to Codec for help managing a cloud migration project to enable more flexible IT environments and drive innovation within the organisation.

“Tourism NI was long overdue for digital transformation that would innovate the organisation’s infrastructure on many different fronts. From enhancing IT security to upgrading the end user experience, our consultants helped the client implement holistic change delivering benefits across the organisation.”

Solution

Progressive transformation and cloud migration

After laying out the organisation’s digital transformation priorities, Codec collaborated with Tourism NI to upgrade its customer experience and CRM capabilities by onboarding Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement—part of the Business Central suite of solutions.

Once this implementation was complete, Codec helped the organisation expand its use of D365 products to include its Finance & Operations and Talent solutions. Meanwhile, an Azure cloud migration was planned and launched to transition the organisation’s IT environment to a fully cloud infrastructure, harnessing new flexibility to support continued innovation, integrations, and efficiencies. This movement from on-premises solutions and co-located infrastructure was a lighthouse project for other public sector agencies in Northern Ireland, offering a template for transitioning out of their IT environments hosted in the BT data centre.

Based on the success of these initial transformation projects, Tourism NI continues to engage Codec in developing new projects to address additional business challenges faced by the organisation.
